Chief Meteorologist

Kevin Lemanowicz was the first chief meteorologist for Boston 25 News at Ten in 1996, and has guided viewers through all the twists and turns of New England weather for more than 27 years! Kevin is a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) recognized by the American Meteorological Society. He is also Silver Circle Honoree, a special recognition from the Boston/New England chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences honoring veteran television professionals who’ve made significant contributions to their community and in their field of expertise for at least 25 years. Kevin loves the challenge of forecasting the changeable New England weather. As a native New Englander, Kevin has had the opportunity to see what a powerful impact weather has on the lives of local residents. He remembers the blizzard of 1978 hitting in 3rd grade, but in his career, he’s seen everything winter has to offer from the April Fools’ Day Blizzard in 1997 to the record snowfall in the winter of 2015. Of course, it isn’t all about snow in New England. Kevin has been on the air for hours continuously when tornadoes have hit, like the one that hit Monson and other towns in 2011. Kevin keeps New Englanders on track with changing weather beyond Boston 25 News’ on-air and digital platforms. He and the Boston 25 Weather Experts provide forecasts to the Boston Red Sox, Worcester Red Sox, Country 102.5 WKLB, and WCRN AM 830. Kevin is often quoted in various print media as well regarding weather and climate. Additionally, Kevin has done in-depth stories related to weather and science, like a winter night atop Mount Washington and tagging sharks off of Cape Cod. More recently, stories have focused on our changing climate. Kevin is active in the community and has visited hundreds of schools giving students and teachers a better understanding of how weather works both locally and globally. He shares his love of meteorology and science expertise with a variety of groups as well, including annual STEM Days at Fenway Park and Polar Park. He also serves as the emcee for various charity events and has been on the host committee for the Ahern Family Foundation. Kevin is a strong supporter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and The Salvation Army of MA. Prior to working at Boston 25, Kevin was chief meteorologist at WTIC in Hartford, CT. He has also worked at the New England Weather Service in Hartford, providing forecasts for private industry and radio stations. Prior to that, Kevin was a staff meteorologist at Fleetweather, Inc., where he tracked storms for radio, schools, private industry and the Weather Channel. Kevin began his career as a meteorologist at WVIT-TV in Hartford, CT. Kevin graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology, and is the proud father of two sons.
