Iconic North Shore restaurant is a go-to spot for WWE Superstars

SAUGUS, Mass. — The Kowloon restaurant is an iconic North Shore spot for a multitude of reasons, not just for locals looking for their Chinese food fix.

WWE Superstars have made the castle on a hill a pit stop during their visits to Boston for decades, and it’s become a bit of a tradition for them.

What Boston 25 News learned is the wrestlers love the Kowloon for the same reasons we all do — good food and good company. But the owner, Andy Wong, has his own theories for the restaurant’s popularity in the locker room.

“After beating each other up all night, they just want to like, hang out and maybe have a Mai Tai and grab some Poo Poo Platters,” Wong told Boston 25′s Chief Meteorologist and wrestling enthusiast Kevin Lemanowicz.

Lemanowicz: “Andy when we walk into Kowloon and can’t help but notice all the wrestling pictures of wrestlers who are here, and we know that they like to come to Kowloon. So can you take us back to how this all started?”

Kowloon has hosted wrestlers of every generation, like Walter (Killer) Kowalski who was in the old WWWF, and the infamous duo known as (Demolition) Ax and Smash.

As far as the future of Kowloon is concerned the wrestlers want one more match before the Wong family redevelops the property into something smaller.
