THURSDAY STORM
We are on WEATHER ALERT for a wintry mix today. Snow will develop mid to late morning. Most accumulation will happen through early afternoon with snow then sleet. Accumulation will range from a coating-2″ in extreme southeastern MA to a widespread 2-4″ along the MA Pike into Boston and Worcester and southern NH. Parts of NH and ME may see 4-6″.
Although it’s not a big snow storm, impacts will stretch through the afternoon with a transition to sleet then freezing rain from south to north. The steadiest precipitation will end around 3 PM, but pockets of drizzle and freezing drizzle will linger until 6 PM. Slick travel is expected locally throughout the afternoon.
FRIDAY BREAK
Partial sun will return Friday with gusts 30-40 mph. The blustery day may come with an isolated flurry, but most will remain dry.
Saturday will also run mainly dry with increasing clouds. Snow will arrive around 10 PM in the evening and peak overnight.
BIGGER WEEKEND STORM
We’ll be back on a weather alert Saturday night to Sunday for snow. Most accumulation will happen 10 PM Saturday to 10 AM Sunday with light snow showers for the rest of Sunday. The current forecast calls for 6-10″ widespread snow in southern New England. A mix or flip to rain on the Cape may keep totals a little lower. We’ll continue to watch and fine tune the numbers. Make sure your shovel and snow blower are ready!
