BITTER COLD
It’s the coldest morning of winter. Brace for single digits above and below zero in most Massachusetts towns during the morning commute. Highs will only reach the upper teens and lower 20s - like yesterday.
Frigid sunshine will rule in most of southern New England. A northerly breezy will push clouds and possible bands of ocean effect snow/flurries over Cape Cod and the Islands today. Fresh coatings are most likely on the Outer Cape and Nantucket, but something we’ll have to monitor for development in that whole area.
“WARMING” WEEKEND
It’s won’t be as cold late week, but below average temperatures will stick around for a while. Highs above freezing won’t return until Sunday.
The current pattern is relatively quiet. We have a few pieces of energy that will stir up some passing clouds, but bigger storms are all misses. We’ll keep an eye on a chance for flurries Sunday with a front passing through, but the better chance will remain focused in the mountains of New England.
