Pleasant start to weekend, watching Isaias

WEEKEND IN VIEW

Locally, we’re looking at a quiet and cool night with temperatures falling into the mid 40s.

The weekend is off to a beautiful start Saturday. Expect plenty of sunshine with highs climbing into the 60s. Clouds will begin to return Sunday as our attention turns to the remnants of Hurricane Isaias.

Rain is expected to move in Sunday afternoon and continue into Monday as the remnants of Isaias track toward the Northeast. The rain should taper off Monday afternoon. In total, we are looking at up to 1/2″ of widespread rain.

NEXT WEEK

We’ll get a brief break of dry weather before another boundary moves through Tuesday, bringing the chance for scattered showers. Temperatures will also trend a little cooler through the end of next week.

TRACKING THE TROPICS

We continue to closely track Hurricane Isaias, currently a major Category 3 hurricane. The storm is expected to make landfall tonight along the Gulf Coast near the Florida Panhandle.

Significant impacts will continue across parts of the Deep South, including heavy and potentially flooding rainfall, damaging winds, storm surge, beach erosion and the threat for tornadoes.

Once Isaias moves inland, it will weaken quickly. It is expected to become a tropical storm by Saturday morning and then begin losing its tropical characteristics Saturday night as it moves toward the Northeast.
