10 things you didn't know about Shiri Spear

BOSTON — Get to know FOX25 Meteorologist Shiri Spear behind the scenes!

1. What was your first job?

My first job… I actually worked summers at Dunkin’ Donuts in Hollis, New Hampshire, up the street from where I grew up.

2. If you’re going to Dunkin’ Donuts today, what do you order?

Oh, well here’s the problem: my kids are always with me so it’s always donuts, and usually one that’s like a holiday festive, like green frosting, and red sprinkles, usually. Delicious, right?

3. If you were not a meteorologist, what would your backup career be?

Well, I was a teacher before, so I probably would be a teacher, either seventh grade math or preschool, or I always wanted to be a volcanologist, too, might have to move to Hawaii, study volcanoes.

4. On your days off, do you sleep in or wake up early?

Well, again, I have two kids. Yeah, and my little one gets up with the sun, so maybe this time of year I get to sleep in ‘til 7 a.m., and that’s about it.

5. What’s the first thing you do when you get home from work?

I change into sweats. My husband hates it… I don’t want to wear my work clothes anymore.

6. What is your guilty pleasure?

Shiri: Oh gosh, that’s easy! Do you already know this?

Craig: I think I know.

Both: Chocolate!

Shiri: Dark chocolate. Like, the less sweet the better. So, like the 85 percent cocoa.

7. Favorite sport?

Okay, so, I’m only 5’2”, I get that a lot, how tall am I? 5’2”. Volleyball. I was actually captain of my high school volleyball team! We weren’t a very good team…

8. TV Show that you never miss?

Oh gosh, anything like Sci-Fi or, I like The 100, we’re big Game of Thrones fans.

9. Who is your celebrity crush? Are they on Game of Thrones?

Oh no, it’s Chris Hemsworth. It’s Thor, yeah. My husband knows, it’s understood, it’s okay, it’s amazing!

10. If you could have one superpower, what would it be?

Shiri: Oh gosh, well, just, I’m a meteorologist I have to say something weather-related, right? Maybe making it sunny, or warm, oh, but then there’s the invisibility, which has nothing to do with weather, this is a hard one, I don’t know. Making money appear out of nowhere! I could have won the Powerball. Going into the future, then! Then I can find those Powerball numbers! Dude, awesome idea!
