WORCESTER, Mass. — In Worcester, residents are bracing themselves for what is forecasted to be the first major Winter Storm of 2022.
Projected snow totals are still being finalized, but on Wednesday, people visited local hardware stores picking up supplies.
At Rocky’s Ace Hardware, quantities of snow shovels and snowmelt were available.
Charles Luster wasn’t taking any chance of dealing with a potential supply chain shortage.
“I’m buying some extra firewood and some salt for the driveway. I’m just making sure we are prepared for the storm when it comes,” Luster said. “We don’t know what the storm may bring but if we are prepared for the worst, it’s a plus.”
Across the city at the Grafton Square True Value, owner Elizabeth Gervais said her store was well stocked on Wednesday.
But she added things can quickly change, should the forecast grow more severe.
She advises people to not wait until the last minute to buy what they need for the storm.
“Right now it’s still a little way out,” Gervas said. “It can turn. It’s New England, you never know what the weather is going to be like.”
