BOSTON — Boston and Providence broke temperature records Saturday as sunny, mild conditions offered a taste of spring.
The National Weather Service’s Boston office tweeted Saturday that Providence reached 62 degrees at 12:30 p.m., beating the previous record of 61 degrees for the day set in 1999.

Boston reached 59 degrees at noon, besting the old daily record of 58 degrees, also set in 1999.

The mild weather won’t last. The National Weather Service says colder temperatures and the potential of snow will move into southern New England later this weekend.
