DEDHAM, Mass. — The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for all of Massachusetts due to the potential for more than a half foot of snow across the region this weekend.
Boston 25 Meteorologist Shiri Spear has us on a Weather Alert for Saturday night into Sunday morning.
According to Spear’s latest weather blog post, the storm looks like it will move in between about 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. on Saturday night, with the heaviest snow falling from midnight through 7 a.m. on Sunday.
“We do have some decent snowfall that occurs during those overnight hours,” Spear said in her latest forecast. “I think it turns a bit lighter by 7 a.m. and probably fading by 10 a.m. in most locations. A lot of this is going to fall overnight.”
Spear said most of Massachusetts, as well as southern New Hampshire, is looking at a widespread 5 to 9 inches of snow.
The outer parts of Cape Cod and the Islands will likely see a little less snowfall with about 3 to 6 inches of snow on tap.
Conditions will be dry for your Super Bowl plans on Sunday afternoon and evening.
In his Thursday forecast, Boston 25 Meteorologist Tucker Antico said there is also a “good chance” we see more snow “on at least one if not two days next week.”
“Beyond Sunday, we’re in a really active weather pattern right now,” Antico said. “The potential for another legitimate storm is there.”
Antico added, “Stick with us as we keep an eye on real winter, which has seemingly arrived in February.”
