Wind advisory in effect for gusts up to 50 mph after overnight snow in Massachusetts

DEDHAM, Mass. — Overnight snow made for a slippery morning commute in parts of Massachusetts.

Dozens of Massachusetts school districts announced delayed openings to allow crews time to clear roads, and a few school closures were reported.

Most of the Bay State saw 1-3 inches of snow, while the South Coast and Cape Cod received between a coating and 1 inch of snow.

The snowfall wrapped up in most areas by 6 a.m. but the snow coated cars, roads, and sidewalks. Scattered rain and snow showers were on tap for the afternoon.

A wind advisory has also been issued in Massachusetts from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday.

The National Weather Service issued the advisory for parts of Franklin, Worcester, Hampshire, Hampden, Middlesex, Essex, Suffolk, Norfolk, Bristol, Plymouth, Dukes, Barnstable, and Nantucket counties.

“Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and some power outages may result,” the NWS warned.

Boston 25 Meteorologist Shiri Spear said 40 to 50 mph gusts are likely, much like Tuesday.
