Vacation resort on Cape Cod gutted by early morning blaze

BREWSTER, Mass. — An investigation is underway after a fire tore through a vacation resort on Cape Cod early Tuesday morning.

Firefighters responding to a report of a blaze at the Brewster Green Resort on Cherrywood Lane in Brewster after midnight encountered heavy flames and launched an exterior fire attack.

Crews braved the frigid as they worked to contain the flames.

No one was inside the building and no one was injured.

Video from the scene showed the flames shooting from the roof of the resort as crews on the ground doused the structure with water.

Crews were finally able to get the fire under control shortly before 3:00 a.m.

According to the State Fire Marshal’s Office, the damage inside the building is “significant.”

The cause of the fire is under investigation but investigators do not believe it is suspicious at this time.
