BOSTON — A former bank teller and his brother have been indicted for the September robbery of the Energy Credit Union in West Roxbury, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Jenel Flounoury, 29, and Justin Flounoury, 33, both of Brockton, were each indicted on one count of conspiracy and one count of larceny from a credit union, former U.S. Attorney Josh Levy said in a statement on Friday.

The brothers were arrested and charged by criminal complaint in December after state authorities arrested both brothers on the night of the robbery, Sept. 24, Levy said.

The brothers are accused of stealing $197,146 from the Energy Credit Union where Jenel Flounoury worked as as teller.

According to the charging documents, on Sept. 24, Jenel Flounoury arranged for a large cash deposit to be stored in a section of the vault that he could access.

Jenel Flounoury then allegedly arranged for his brother, Justin Flounoury, to stage a “robbery,” passing Jenel Flounoury a note demanding money.

When Justin Flounoury passed the note to his brother, Jenel Flounoury allegedly bypassed his bank teller cash drawer, went straight to the vault, and loaded nearly $200,000 into a bag he retrieved himself, before delivering it to the “robber,” Levy said.

Hours later, police executed a search warrant at the home of the brothers, Levy said. There, investigators recovered more than $160,000 in cash, including ten $100 bills whose serial numbers had been recorded by Energy Credit Union employees as being present in the vault prior to the robbery.

According to court documents, cell site location information for Justin Flounoury’s  phone places it within .25 miles of the credit union at the time of the robbery.

The charge of conspiracy provides for a sentence of up to five years in prison, three years of supervised release and a fine of up to $250,000.

The charge of larceny from a credit union provides for a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison, three years of supervised release and a fine of up to $250,000.
