Three people are seriously injured after multi-vehicle collision on Waquoit Highway, police say

Falmouth, MA — A serious three-car vehicle collision has left multiple people with injuries on Waquoit Highway.

The crash occurred on Tuesday night, January 28, when officers of the Falmouth Police Department were dispatched to the highway for reports of a crash.

Upon arrival, officers confirmed the crash with multiple people injured. One of those injured suffered a compound fracture to their leg, which prompted officers to apply a tourniquet to stop the bleeding.

Two people were transported to a trauma center off the Cape with serious injuries, while a third occupant, a child, was airlifted to Boston Children’s Hospital due to the severity of their injuries.

The roadway was closed for approximately 5 hours for cleanup and investigation. Initial findings suggested that the at-fault driver had gone over the median and sideswiped one of the vehicles, then collided head-on with another vehicle.

The driver was cited for Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Marked Lanes Violation.

Additionally, another operator involved in the crash was driving with a suspended license.

Both drivers will be summoned to court.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
