A beloved family dog will be reunited with its owner Tuesday after it was mistakenly taken from a front yard in Swampscott, police say.
Trudy, a 14-year-old recovering from recent back surgery, was taken from a front yard on Bates Road by a man and a woman around 10:00 a.m., according to Swampscott police.
The two individuals, who were spotted on surveillance video, contacted police after seeing social media posts, describing the accidental dog-napping as a well-intended mistake.
“Again, thanks to the power of social media and support from the community who shared, searched, and sent well-wishes, this story has a happy ending,” Swampscott police shared. “Trudy will be reunited this evening with her owner and family at the Swampscott Police Station.”
