CHICOPEE, Mass. — A suspect was arrested on Wednesday for their alleged role in the involvement for a murder committed back in July.
Massachusetts State Police Hampden County Detective Unit, SAFE Task Force, Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section and members of the Holyoke Police Department arrested the suspect.
Due to the suspects age, their identity cannot be released.
The shooting occurred back on Wednesday, July 9, when Holyoke police were dispatched to the area of the 50 block of West Street for reports of a shot spotter activation.
Officers found a man, 38-year-old Dexter Ortiz, suffering from gunshot wound and two other people with non-life threatening injuries. The individuals were transported to the hospital, where Ortiz passed away from his injuries.
The incident is still being investigated by authorities.
