BOSTON, Mass. — Crews are diverting traffic after a telephone pole fell down in Dorchester Tuesday night.
Boston Police say they received a call around 3:30 p.m. for several wires down on Centre Street.
Responding companies found two poles snapped in half and electrical wires strewn across the street.
There were no reports of any injuries, but motorists are being asked to avoid the area of Centre Street and Dorchester Avenue.
Eversource is on scene investigating but says their initial inspection indicates the damage was likely caused by strong wind gusts.
They are bringing in a generator to help affected customers get their power restored.
Our crews are working as quickly and safely as possible to clear and repair two broken utility poles here on Centre St in Dorchester. We have a generator on the way that our team will use to restore power to nearly all our customers affected while this work continues. pic.twitter.com/YtpHhPzIbh
