WESTBOROUGH, Mass. — A 32-year-old Shrewsbury man is held without bail after being charged with holding a teenage girl against her will in a Westborough hotel room.
Lury DeSouza was arraigned Friday in Westborough District Court on charges of kidnapping, assault and battery on a family member and witness intimidation.
The victim is 16 years old
The court file is ordered sealed.
But in open court, a prosecutor said, the 16-year-old victim disappeared from a DCF program in Lynn on January 22nd.
When a staffer eventually made contact with her, she allegedly told the staffer she willingly left the program and would only be gone for a few days.
But everything changed two days later,r
“On Friday, January 24, she advised the defendant of her intentions to return to the program at that point he refused to allow her to return and forced her to stay with him against her will,” prosecutor Katie Becker told the court.
Becker said DeSouza took the victim’s cell phone away to prevent her from calling for help.
But she managed to get it back.
“She was eventually able to retrieve her cellphone and sent video of herself to DCF,” prosecutor Becker said. “She was seen with a bloody face, and indicated she was struck 3 or 4 times in the face by the defendant and was requesting help from the police.”
Iury DeSouza was arrested in Westboro.
