‘Traumatized’: Grandmother suffers serious injuries after being attacked by dogs in Boston

BOSTON — Multiple dogs in Boston mauled a grandmother on Thursday afternoon.

The victim’s family tells Boston 25 News that she’s recovering in the hospital with serious injuries.

A woman who didn’t want to be identified says her mother’s coworker, Rosalia, was the person who the dogs attacked at a home on Brunswick Street in in the city’s Dorchester neighborhood.

The two women work as home aids and Rosalia had been there before.

“But today was different, they just attacked her as soon as they saw her,” said Rosalia’s friend. “My mom was walking off to get out of the situation, she ran away asking for help – she tried to help her, but she knew if she jumped on them they would have hurt her too.”

Rosalia’s family tells Boston 25 News she has serious injuries to her leg and may need surgery after this dog attack.

Police say she needed a tourniquet on the scene.

Boston 25 News crews saw at least four dogs still on the property Thursday night.

Police told the victim’s family they believe a pit bull was mostly responsible for the attack.

Police are investigating the incident along with Animal Control while friends and family of this mother and grandmother are praying for her recovery.

“My mom too, she’s pretty traumatized from the issues she’s just been crying since so it’s really hard for us,” said the victim’s friend.
