POST Commission suspends certification of Boston Police Officer accused of domestic disturbance

BOSTON — The Peace Officers Standards and Training Commission (POST) announced the suspension of a Boston Police Officer’s law enforcement license on Friday for his alleged role in a domestic disturbance on Christmas Day.

The Commission said they received “sufficient evidence” to suspend Officer Terrence Murray’s license following an investigation.

He is ordered to immediately surrender any agency-issued credentials and equipment, including his gun, badge, cruiser, uniform, and use-of-force instruments until the POST Commission makes a final ruling.

Murray, a four-year department veteran assigned to Boston Police Department District 3, was charged with one count of assault and battery on a family/household member, one count of improper storage of a firearm, one count of vandalizing property, and two counts of Class E drug possession stemming from an incident on December 25.

According to court documents, Murray pushed the victim to the ground following an argument around 6 a.m. at his Hull residence. He is also accused of driving around with an unsecured department-issued firearm, along with steroid possession.

Murray pleaded not guilty on December 5 to the charges. He will return to court in February 2025.
