Police searching for suspect accused of stabbing 19-year-old at Chelsea Market Basket

CHELSEA, Mass. — Police are searching for the suspect who allegedly stabbed a young man at a Market Basket in Chelsea Thursday afternoon.

The 19-year-old who was stabbed was treated for serious but non-life-threatening injuries, Chelsea police told Boston 25 News.

Police said the incident occurred around 3 p.m. and arrest has not been made yet.

Several police cruisers and officers could be seen outside the supermarket just before 4:00 p.m.

Sarah Sullivan visited the popular supermarket with her young daughter Thursday afternoon and said it’s very alarming to see a crime scene as you head in for your grocery shopping.

“I think I’m definitely gonna head home now. I don’t think anything about bringing my kids with me it’s like second nature they’re with me so just wanna go but I don’t really feel comfortable now,” said Sullivan.

The store remained open for customers as police investigated the crime scene.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Chelsea Police Department.
