Police investigating after more than 50 properties vandalized in Cape Cod town

FALMOUTH, Mass. — An investigation is underway after more than 50 properties in a town on Cape Cod were vandalized overnight.

A Falmouth Department of Public Works employee sanding roads reported significant property damage in the area of Crooked Meadow Road in Falmouth just before 2:30 a.m., according to the Falmouth Police Department.

Officers responding to the scene discovered vandalism affecting more than 50 properties on Crooked Meadow Road, Pinecrest Beach Drive, Sandpoint Shores Drive, Cottontail Circle, Shagbark Drive, Happy Hollow Road, and Blacksmith Shop Road, police said.

Police noted that the damage included mailboxes, light fixtures, basketball hoops, lawn ornaments, and flower containers.

The vandals suspected of causing the damage were later apprehended by officers who followed footprints in the snow, according to police.

The suspects, whose names haven’t been released, are expected to face charges.

There were no additional details immediately available.
