Police arrest wanted man accused of holding girl against her will at Mass. hotel

WESTBORO, Mass. — Law enforcement officials have arrested a man who was wanted for allegedly holding a girl against her will at a Massachusetts hotel.

Iury Vieira DeSouza was taken into custody after a warrant was issued for his arrest, the Westboro Police Department announced Friday in an updated Facebook post.

Officers responding to a report of a juvenile being held against her will at an Extended Stay America at 19 Connector Road in Westboro around 11 a.m. on Tuesday located the alleged victim and transported her to a local hospital for evaluation, police said in a news release on Thursday.

Westboro police, with the assistance of the Massachusetts State Police, later identified DeSouza as a suspect in the investigation. Authorities then asked the public to be on the lookout for a vehicle DeSouza was believed to be driving.

Police didn’t share specific details on the arrest of DeSouza other than that he had been captured.

“The Westboro Police Department is committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of all members of our community, and we thank the Massachusetts State Police and other law enforcement partners for their assistance in this investigation,” the department said in a statement.

There was no immediate word on what charges DeSouza will face or when he’ll be called to court.

An investigation is ongoing.
