U.S. — After weeks and weeks of turmoil, TikTok has officially “gone dark” after users receive a message trying to log onto the app.
Before allegedly being banned and shut down on Sunday, January 19, there was hope that there would be some kind of resolve to the issue. With potential bidders to buy the app, including “Shark Tank” star Kevin O’Leary and a slew of billionaire bidders offering to buy the app.
Earlier on Saturday, users received a pop-up message stating that the app is “working to restore [their] service in the U.S. as soon as possible, and we appreciate your support.”
But now, according to AP, at 10:50 PM Eastern time, users are not able to use the app.
They receive this message:
With President Trump stating that he plans to uphold the ban in his presidency, only time will tell.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
