A middle school in Peabody was evacuated on Friday after a laptop experienced “electrical issues. ”
School officials at Higgins Middle School decided to evacuate the building “out of an abundance of caution” after a Chromebook in one of the classrooms had an electrical issue.
All staff and students were able to return to the building within 10 minutes and resume the school day as normal.
“We would like to thank our first responders as well as our staff and students for an exceptional job handling the situation,” a Peabody schools department spokesperson told Boston 25 News.
