New England Patriots QB Drake Maye is less than a year into his NFL career but will soon have a ring to show off.
The 22-year-old franchise cornerstone announced his engagement to longtime girlfriend Ann Michael Hudson on Instagram Wednesday.
The pair have been dating since middle school and continued their relationship at the University of North Carolina.
“Love doing life with you. Can’t wait to marry you!,” Maye penned on Instagram.
The young QB was a bright spot in a depressing football season in New England. Maye completed 66.6% of his passes for 2,276 yards, 15 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions and also added 421 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns.
When the Maye returns to New England, he’ll have a new head coach waiting for him. The Patriots introduced Mike Vrabel as the 16th head coach in franchise history on Monday.
Vrabel said he hoped to surround the hopeful franchise QB with “great people.”
“I would say that my involvement will be as it relates to game management and situational awareness and where we are on the football field and trying to develop him as a leader of the offense. When a quarterback calls the play, you want to say it like everybody’s going to believe that it’s going to score a touchdown — like with that type of emphasis on how everything is going to operate,” Vrabel said.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
