MILFORD, Mass. — A Milford store owner is accused of selling thousands of dollars worth of counterfeit shoes, trying to pass them off as high-end fashion brands.

Customers who purchased shoes at the Family Sneaker House on Main Street in Milford are invited to bring their receipts to police and get a refund after the owner was arrested for counterfeiting.

During an investigation, over 1,200 items worth more than $200,000 were found on the store premises this past December, according to Milford Police.

Police say the owner purchased the counterfeit clothing items from a Chinese distributor.

In a letter addressed to the Milford Police Department on behalf of Nike Inc., Louis Vuitton North America, Gucci America inc., and Adidas International Inc., Andrea Powers, President of Powers & Associates personally praised the efforts of Detective Lieutenant Kevin O’Loughlin, Detective Elias Giokas and Detective Thomas Leung.

Police say the owner is pledging to honor all refunds.

“While this was not a traditional crime indicative of our community, it’s important to realize these types of operations are not just taking billions away from these big corporations but more importantly, money out of the wallets of hard-working people.,” Milford Police Chief Robert Tusino said.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
