WALTHAM, Mass. — Several students and a van driver were injured Friday morning following a multi-car crash involving a school bus.
According to Waltham fire officials, they received a 911 call around 8:24 a.m. for a report of a motor vehicle collision at Beaver Street and Lexington Street that involved a school bus from the Dual Language School, a van that was rolled over, and another vehicle.
Crews quickly responded and found a van on its side with a driver needing to be extricated at the crash scene. The driver of the van was transported to Newton Wellesley Hospital with injuries not considered to be life-threatening.
Officials say of the 35 people on the school bus, 6 students were transported to an area hospital with minor injuries. The other 28 students were transported to another bus and continued on to the Dual Language School. The school bus driver was uninjured.
The school safety resource officer also responded to the scene to assist. All parents were alerted to the crash, according to authorities.
The driver of the other vehicle was uninjured.
Due to the number of patients involved, resources from several surrounding towns were called to the scene to assist.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation and it’s unclear if any charges will be filed.
