Calling all Couch Detectives! We know the work week is over, but we're putting you on this case for some ottoman OT. Settle into the sectional, grab the closest pair of cheaters, and get ready for some grainy surveillance video! This week's caper takes place one week ago, just after 11pm on Friday, March 3rd. The place? Downtown Mansfield on North Main St. Our victim, a white Ford Expedition at the top of the frame, was minding its own business while parked on the side of the street. It was a picturesque suburban New England evening with light snow flurries dancing down from the heavens. Disrupting the quiet calm of our quaint Main St., a white truck appears traveling northbound and, by means of distraction, inebriation, or just terrible driving on the part of the operator, strikes the parked Expedition from behind. Damage to the Expedition is significant - it will not be a cheap repair, but it is still driveable and no one was hurt, so it would have been a relatively simple and routine matter between body shops and insurance companies. However, the driver of the white truck did not stop! In failing to take responsibility for their mistake, the operator leaves the victim to manage the repairs on their own. And so, Sectional Sleuths, we ask you to help us identify the hit-and-runner. We have a good idea of the make, model, and even model year range for this truck, but we'd like to hear your thoughts. Do you know someone with fresh damage to the front-passenger side of their truck? Maybe they’re driving a loaner while their truck is “in the shop?” Detective Patrick Pennie is on the case. You can reach him by email at firstname.lastname@example.org or leave an anonymous tip on our MPD Tip Line 508-261-7355.Posted by Mansfield, MA Police Department on Friday, March 10, 2023
