Man killed, two others seriously injured after crash involving a pedestrian in Boston

BOSTON — A man has died after being hit by a vehicle in Boston near Andrew Square.

According to police, around 9:26 a.m. officers responded to a motor vehicle accident with injuries near 600 Dorchester Avenue, South Boston.

Upon arrival, officers located an adult male who had been hit by a vehicle. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

According to Connor Van Winter, who lives nearby, the fatal crash in that area isn’t too surprising.

“Every time you go through the intersection you see someone almost get hit,” Van Winter said.

Traffic in the area had been significantly impacted, all roads surrounding Andrew Square are currently blocked, the I-93 ramp at Southampton Street was closed, and MBTA train and bus routes were affected.

However, the area was re-opened to drivers mid-afternoon on Sunday after the vehicle was removed and towed away from the building.

According to an Instagram post, Small Victories, the business the car struck, will remain closed until further notice, and all of their staff members are safe.

The crash is under investigation.
