Authorities have charged a 25-year-old man with murder in connection with the death of a North Shore sub shop owner earlier this week.
Eric German-Pena, of Lynn, is slated to be arraigned Thursday in Lynn District Court on a charge of murder in the killing of 48-year-old Ilias Mavros, also of Lynn, according to Essex District Attorney Paul F. Tucker.
Officers conducting a wellness check at Mavros’ home on Stanwood Street around 6:30 p.m. on Monday found him dead inside with apparent signs of trauma, Tucker’s office and the Lynn Police Department said.
The results of an autopsy on Mavros haven’t been revealed, but Tucker said investigators “developed probable cause” to charge German-Pena.
Mavros was the owner of Crazy Buzzy’s Roast Beef on the Lynnway in Lynn.
There was said to be great concern among family and friends when Mavros didn’t show up to work on Monday.
Mavros’ family is keeping the sub shop open as a tribute to him.
There was no immediate word on the facts and circumstances surrounding Mavros’ death.
The Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assisgned to Tucker’s office is assisting Lynn police with the investigation.
