LONDONDERRY, NH — A Londonderry, NH officer has been released from the hospital after being struck by a vehicle.
According to police, on January 30, shortly 9 p.m. a Londonderry Police officer was assisting a disabled motorist on Hardy Road in the area of Faye Lane.
The officer had requested a tow truck to remove the vehicle and was directing traffic around the scene. While attempting to stop a vehicle traveling south on Hardy Road, the vehicle struck the officer, throwing him to the ground.
The officer was able to radio for assistance, and additional officers, along with the Londonderry Fire Department, responded to the scene.
The vehicle’s operator remained on the scene and cooperated with the investigation.
The injured officer was transported to Parkland Medical Center by the Londonderry Fire Department, where he was treated for a head injury and arm injury before being released a few hours later.
The accident remains under investigation, and Londonderry Police are reminding drivers to exercise caution when approaching emergency vehicles on the road.
