Karen Read’s lawyers are pushing back on an effort to block one of their experts from taking the stand in her retrial in April.
Dr. Marie Russell previously testified about wounds on John O’Keefe’s arm. Her opinion is that O’Keefe was attacked by a large dog.
Prosecutors argue that Dr. Russell lacks the experience needed to make that determination.
In a new filing, read’s defense team says Russell has already been vetted by the court and is, “eminently qualified”.
Dr. Russell’s qualifications will be discussed at a hearing on Thursday.
