JetBlue plane forced to return to Boston’s Logan Airport midflight

BOSTON — A JetBlue plane was forced to return to Boston’s Logan International Airport midflight on Tuesday due to a possible issue with the aircraft.

Flight 2393 to Denver turned back for Logan after there were “indications of a potential hydraulics issue,” an airline spokesperson told Boston 25 News.

Reg Warren, of Hingham, who was on the plane traveling to see his daughter in Colorado, told Boston 25 the pilot announced the hydraulics issue about an hour into the flight.

Video showed MassPort emergency vehicles standing by on the tarmac as the flight made its way back to the airport.

What stood out to Warren was the time the plane spent in the air once the flight was diverted back to the Boston area.

“When we were circling, and I didn’t hear anything … got a little concerned,” he explained.

The flight landed safely in Boston and taxied to the gate without incident, according to the airline.

JetBlue planned to move passengers onto a new aircraft for continued service to Denver.

“My mom is always scared because all of the stuff that has been going on, but it’s not the worst thing that could’ve happened. It could’ve been a lot worse,” explained Jill Shechter who attends Colorado State University and was on the diverted flight.

Boston 25 reached out to JetBlue for information on why the plane spent so long circling the Boston area and is currently waiting for a response.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
