WALTHAM, Mass. — Hats and hoods were accessories of choice for those outside walking on Moody Street in Waltham Monday night.
People braced themselves for frigid air temperatures, as well as sidewalks covered with snow and ice from Sunday night’s storm.
“I think that it’s nice now that there’s snow with the cold . it’s not too bad when it looks pretty outside,” says Morgan Murphy.
People like Murphy should expect bitter cold over the next several days, as temperatures are forecast to drop even lower. This has major cities like Boston and Worcester opening warming centers starting Tuesday through Thursday.
Folks outdoors on Monday say they won’t be going outdoors if it gets any colder, though.
“I’m probably going to be staying inside more. I am lucky enough to be able to work from home,” says Jim Castrigano.
If you’re looking to find warming centers and shelters close to you, call 2-1-1 or check with local authorities.
