Investigation underway after man found dead in backyard on South Shore, DA says

ABINGTON, Mass. — An investigation is underway after a man was found dead in his backyard in a town on the South Shore of Massachusetts on Friday night, authorities said.

Officers responding to 563 Plymouth Street in Abington for a wellness check just before 7:30 p.m. found a 43-year-old man dead in his backyard, according to the Plymouth District Attorney’s Office.

The state Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of the man’s death. His name hasn’t been released.

While a preliminary investigation indicates the man’s death “does not appear to be a random act of violence,” police are still asking the public for help with the investigation, according to the DA’s office.

Anyone with information on the incident is urged to contact Massachusetts State Police at 508-894-2584.

State troopers assigned to the DA’s office are assisting Abington police with the investigation.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
