PLYMOUTH, Mass. — Members of the Plymouth Fire Department responded to a single-family home on Saturday, February 1, to reports of a fire.

According to the homeowner, they arrived to find heavy smoke pouring from the first floor of the home.

Fire crews arrived and saw that heavy flames had begun to spew out of the home. Crews began an immediate response before upgrading the fire to a 2-alarm response, prompting additional assistance to aid in battling the fire.

Due to the location of the home, no fire hydrants were in the area, leading to several trucks shuttling water from nearby hydrants.

The fire was able to be extinguished and crews remained on scene to monitor for hot spots.

Crews from Carver and Bourne Fire Departments supplied station coverage for Plymouth.

There were no injuries reported, however, the fire caused extensive damage to the home, with the residents of the home being assisted by the Red Cross, in collaboration with Plymouth Emergency Management and family members.

Plymouth Fire believes that the cause of fire does not appear to be suspicious, but it remains under investigation.
