EVERETT, Mass. — An Everett Police Officer was placed on paid leave for an alleged domestic assault over the weekend.
Marie Sylvain, 27, of Peabody, was arraigned Tuesday in Malden District Court on two counts of assault and battery on a household or family member, according to Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan.
Prosecutors allege Sylvain bit a man in the face and refused to let go before punching him multiple times during a domestic incident. The victim involved was a person she had previously dated, according to prosecutors.
Everett Police Chief Paul Strong confirms Sylvain was suspended with pay.
Sylvain pleaded not guilty to the charges and was released on personal recognizance. She was ordered to stay away from and have no contact with the victim, abide by a restraining order, and not possess any firearms.
