BOSTON — A registered sex offender is facing a new charge of indecent assault following an incident that occurred last Friday, January 24.
Kenneth Osborne, 65, of Dorchester is being charged with indecent assault and battery on a person over 14.
Osborne was convicted of indecent assault and assault to rape charges in 2006 and was sentenced to state prison.
The incident occurred on January 24, when bystanders flagged down Boston police to report the assault.
The victim told the police that while she was on her phone, a man, later identified as Osborne, pressed against the victim and grabbed her butt. Osborne began to flee towards Boylston Street when the victim turned around and asked him if she knew him.
The victim then attempted to follow Osborne while filming him but eventually lost sight of him.
Responding officers in the area broadcasted Osborne’s description and located him around 3:30 PM.
A field identification was conducted, where the victim was able to identify Osborne, saying, “that’s the man I was chasing.”
“While it’s fortunate that this victim didn’t sustain physical injuries, no one should downplay the fear and personal violation she experienced, nor the impact that incidents like this have on our sense of neighborhood safety and quality of life,” Suffolk District Attorney Kevin Hayden said
Osborne is being held on a $5,000 bail, and if to be released will be under GPS monitoring.
Osborne will be back in court on March 5 for a pre-trial hearing.
