DEDHAM, Mass. — Fire crews are investigating after a fire broke out at a home in Dedham on Monday afternoon.
According to fire officials, crews received a call for a fire at a single-family home located at 29 Granite Street around 11:53 a.m. The call initially came in as a car fire that spread to the house.
The homeowner, a woman, was the only one inside at the time. Authorities say she was trapped in the backyard due to intense flames, unable to reach the front of the property.
Firefighters were able to rescue her, and she was evaluated at the scene for injuries.
A second alarm was called around 12:11 as crews worked to bring the blaze under control.
Firefighters remain on the scene dealing with hot spots.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and it is unclear whether an electric car was involved in the incident.
