Crews battle heavy flames at Watertown home

WATERTOWN, Mass. — Firefighters from several different communities helped to extinguish flames shooting from a Watertown home on Tuesday.

The blaze broke out just before 4 p.m. on Westminster Avenue, according to officials.

Arriving companies found heavy fire on the first floor, and ordered a second alarm response, which prompted companies from Waltham, Belmont, Cambridge, and Newton to respond.

There was one person inside the home at the time, but they made it out safely before firefighters arrived.

Crews were able to extinguish the flames in a timely manner.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
