Crews battle heavy flames, broken hydrant during Natick house fire

Crews battle heavy flames, broken hydrant during Natick house fire (Natick Fire Department)

NATICK, Mass. — Firefighters battled more than just flames at a home in Natick on Monday.

According to officials, crews responding to a fire on Everett Street around 5 p.m. found a garage and a car fully engulfed in flames along with downed power lines.

As if the conditions weren’t difficult enough, authorities say a nearby fire hydrant was also broken.

Despite these challenges, crews were able to contain the blaze to just the garage and out of the main house.

“Our crews did a phenomenal job keeping the fire from the main house while dealing with a large volume of fire, water supply challenges, and the downed power lines,” Chief Jason Ferschke said.

There were no reports of any injuries and the cause of the fire remains under investigation, although Chief Ferschke says it does not appear to be suspicious.

Framingham and Wellesley Fire Departments provided assistance at the scene as well as station coverage. Natick Police and DPW also assisted at the scene.

No further information was immediately available.
