PLYMOUTH, Mass. — For some lottery winner or winners, Christmas is truly ‘miracle.’
And the latest winner, or winners, of a whopping $2.5 million lottery prize paid tribute to the Dec. 25 holiday by creating a trust in that name.
Christmas Miracle Trust of Plymouth has claimed a $2.5 million prize in the Massachusetts State Lottery’s “$2,500,000 Merry & Bright” instant ticket game, lottery officials said Monday.
The trust, represented by trustee Robb D’Ambruoso, a Plymouth attorney, opted to receive its prize in the form of a one-time payment of $1,625,000, before taxes.
Lottery winners often create legal trusts to claim large lottery prizes. In doing so, the winners shield their identity by having an attorney publicly claim their prize.
The winning ticket was purchased at Luke’s Liquors, 736 State Rd. in Plymouth.
The store receives a $25,000 bonus for its sale of this ticket.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
