BILLERICA, Mass. — Billerica Police Department has arrested and charged a man for multiple breaking-and-enterings at a local storage facility in town.
Michael Payne. 49, has been charged with:
- Two counts of Receiving Stolen Property
- Two counts of Breaking Into a Depository
- Malicious Destruction of Property
Police were notified Thursday afternoon, January 30, that several units at the Extra Space Storage appeared to be broken into and damaged. Nearly $25,000 worth of items were stolen.
Initial investigations from the storage surveillance footage found that a blue Honda CRV was by the facility. Police also discovered that someone had pried back the roof of the units to get inside.
Later that night, police noticed that same Honda and conducted a vehicle stop.
During the stop, police noted that several of the reported missing items that were reported stolen from the facility were in the car.
The driver, identified as Payne, also fit the description of the man seen on the surveillance footage and was arrested and taken into custody.
