PLYMOUTH, Mass. — Environmental officials in Plymouth issued a warning to boaters after a whale breached and landed on a boat in the White Horse Beach area.
No one on board the 19-foot vessel was injured, and no significant damage was reported.
The Plymouth harbormaster notified the Massachusetts Environmental Police, which will investigate the incident.
“This interaction, while rare, is a reminder that these interactions can be dangerous for both boaters and whales,” a statement on the town’s Facebook page read.
It’s the second such encounter off Plymouth in a week.
On Wednesday, photographer Suzanne O’Shea snapped a picture of a whale breaching behind a boat.

“The whale was not near the boats at first and jumped out of the water a couple times. Then it jumped up behind the boat,” O’Shea told Boston 25. “I couldn’t believe I captured that moment.”
Plymouth’s harbormaster advised boaters to stay at least 100 yards from a whale to minimize potential interactions.
