SEEKONK, Mass. — A 37-year-old Massachusetts man was killed in single-vehicle crash on Interstate 195 in Seekonk on Tuesday, the district attorney said.

Joshua Ponte, of Fall River, died in the crash late Tuesday afternoon, Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn said in a statement on Wednesday.

At approximately 5 p.m. Tuesday, troopers from the Massachusetts State Police and Seekonk Fire/EMS responded to a single-vehicle crash at mile marker 1.4 of I-195 eastbound in Seekonk, Quinn said.

When emergency crews arrived, they found a black GMC pick-up truck behind the guardrail, up against the bridge support pillar and on the median side of the roadway.

Crews found Ponte, the sole occupant, inside the truck. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

An investigation into the fatal crash is ongoing, Quinn said.
