1 teenager shot and killed in Mattapan in daytime shooting on Sunday, police say

BOSTON — A male teenager was shot and killed during a brazen daytime shooting in Mattapan on Sunday, police said.

Around 11:32 a.m. Sunday, officers responded to a call for ShotSpotter activity in the area of Fremont and Babson streets, police said. At the same time, police also received an emergency call for a person shot in the area of 119 Babson St.

When officers arrived, they found a male victim suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police would not release further details on the shooting on Sunday.

Suffolk District Attorney Kevin Hayden went to the shooting scene on Sunday afternoon.

“Unfortunately we’re here with another tragic incident and our hearts go out to our communities and to everyone that’s affected,” Hayden said.

The district attorney urged anyone with information regarding the shooting to call police.

“If there’s anyone in the community that knows anything about what’s transpired here and has any information, we definitely need your help,” Hayden said.
