BOSTON — A Lowell man was ordered to be held on $1 million bail after being charged with raping a child when they were 5-years-old, officials announced on Wednesday.

Maynor Francisco Hernandez-Rodas, 38, was charged on December 11 with:

  • four counts of aggravated rape of a child
  • three counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14
  • one count of enticing a child under 16

In May 2024, a 10-year-old victim told authorities that Hernandez-Rodas had assaulted them numerous times, from the age of 5, at various locations in the cities of Chelsea, Lowell, and Lynn.

Hernandez-Rodas is being charged with the same crimes against the same victim in Middlesex County.

“We take great care when dealing with such young victims of any type of crime, particularly sexual crimes.” Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin Hayden said. “Our expert and caring prosecutors, investigators, and victim advocates will help this survivor and her family throughout the entire judicial process,”

Hernandez-Rodas is expected back in court for a pre-trial hearing on March 5.
