Cayle Thompson brings more than 20 years of journalism experience to the Boston 25 News team. His on-air reporting has been honored by the Associated Press, the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, and various statewide broadcast associations. Cayle joined Boston 25 in June 2024. Previously, he covered breaking news for The National Desk in Washington, DC, where he also produced and anchored afternoon news briefs for broadcast affiliates across the country. Cayle has covered news coast to coast, reporting for major broadcast affiliates in Texas, Michigan, Kansas, Florida, and Washington state. He was in the producer’s booth the night Saddam Hussein was captured, delivered live reports from Houston the night Hurricane Rita roared ashore, spent days on the ground after a massive EF5 tornado leveled Greensburg, Kansas, flew with the U.S. Thunderbirds, and successfully reunited hundreds of precious wedding photos with a Marine and his wife years after their album was lost. In addition to his work as a journalist, Cayle supports community causes close to his heart. He hosted a weekly segment in Seattle featuring adoptable pets and helped raise millions of dollars to build a new animal shelter. In Florida, he supported the Promising Pathways National Conference on Autism, held annually in Fort Myers. Cayle is a proud graduate of Ithaca College in New York and Washington State University’s Edward R. Murrow College of Communication. Originally from Texas, he married into a large and wonderful Merrimack Valley family and is happy to finally call New England home.
