SUMMER SCORCHER!
Sunday started a heat wave with Boston hitting 94!
An Extreme Heat Warning is in effect for most of Massachusetts through Tuesday. Meanwhile, southern New Hampshire is under a Heat Advisory and Extreme Heat Watch during the same period. These alerts mean dangerously high heat and humidity will persist for several days, especially for vulnerable populations. Stay hydrated, avoid strenuous outdoor activity, and check in on neighbors.
Looking ahead, Monday will bring a warm start with temperatures climbing quickly into the mid-90s again. Tuesday will be the peak of this heat wave. We will be looking at triple-digit highs, with heat index values topping 110° at times. Record-breaking temperatures are a real possibility, so be prepared for extreme conditions. If Boston gets to 101, it’ll be the warmest June day on record going back to 1872!
LATE-WEEK RELIEF
There is some relief on the horizon. Wednesday will still be hot in the 90s, but cooler air blows in from the northeast with a chance for showers arriving by the afternoon. By Thursday, we’re back into the 70s, though the pattern will turn a bit more unsettled heading into the end of the week, with scattered showers and possible storms.
We’ll be tracking the heat and any storm chances closely over the next few days. Extreme heat can be dangerous, so make sure you’re taking precautions to stay safe and cool. Keep it tuned here for the latest updates.
