Matt Brown continues to unite Norwood first responders

In 2010, Matt Brown was severely injured playing high school hockey, paralyzed from a check while playing a shift for the Norwood Mustangs.

During his recovery, Matt learned just how special medical professionals and first responders really are.

“They’ve helped me through some of the darkest moments of my life,” said Brown. “I’ll never be able to give back fully to a town that’s given me so much.”

Matt has always given back and recently, he and his cousin, Juliana, were brainstorming about helping their town.

“He was thinking about a way that we could support local businesses, while also supporting the front lines,” said Juliana.

Team Brown soon found out their idea was already taken.

“I think someone beat us to it,” said Juliana.

“She sent me a screen shot of a GoFundMe page saying, ‘Norwood Feeds The Front Line,’” said Brown. “It was actually created by the Friends of Norwood Center. So why not reach out and see if we can team up?"

He reached out to Charlotte Walsh.

“This is what he said,” said Walsh, the President of ‘Friends of Norwood.' “Great minds think alike. Of course. Let’s join forces.”

Friends of Norwood Center is a local organization with a goal of making Norwood better.

“It’s just another thing that makes Norwood so special,” said Brown.

So “Norwood Feeds The Front Line” is now a town-wide effort.

“Together we’ll be able to make it bigger and better,” said Juliana.

“You see it all over Norwood. These restaurants, they’re struggling to get by,” said Brown. “With us being able to buy food from them and get food from them, but then also deliver it to those who are on the front line - it’s all about giving back to them.”

This campaign is wonderful and it highlights what really makes this town so special.

“It’s the people,” said Walsh. “It is the most amazing community.”

“We’re a community that comes together when we need to," said Juliana.

“I’ve seen it not just with myself, but this town comes out to support whoever’s in need,” said Brown.
